The meaning of our Yearbook theme this year - ESSENTIALLYAKINS - is YOU. YOU are essential to Akins. How? If you are running this race, you are helping Akins Yearbook students pay for contests and conferences where they can be recognized statewide and nationally for their skills. You are assisting our staff in being able to have staff t-shirts. You are providing the means for some of our Seniors to do… well… typical Senior things: things like get a yearbook, take a college tour, have a cap & gown for graduation.
This year, many have had a tough go of it. We began the school year as we ended it... virtually. We have Zoomed, swabbed and socially distanced our way through. Some have experienced unparalleled hardships. We all watched as our world got smaller. We focused on the important things in life - just the essentials. We celebrated, protested, laughed, cried and looked for the light in dark places.
We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty ready to end this year and start 2021. So, we thought we’d go with the idea of hosting a virtual race to end the year. RUN FROM 2020 as fast as you can.
What a way to get healthy while saying goodbye to an unprecedented year.
