MEDALS & SHIRTS
All the race packets were mailed 8/29/2021, USPS. There were conflicting notices for next year’s race. The CORRECT date is 8/14/21.
THANKS for your support and participation!
Join us for this regional event benefitting the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, CCF while bringing awareness to this insidious, silent killer. Cholangiocarcinoma, CC or bile duct cancer, the THIRD leading cause of ALL cancer deaths, is increasing in children and adults 4% per year, and since 2000 has the SECOND highest rate of increase of all cancers. Make no mistake about it: this is a cancer like no other. Average life expectancy, post diagnosis, is 5 months. This is NOT an old person’s disease as it is striking regularly people in their 20’s with the youngest victim only 11 years old. It is estimated 30-35% of Vietnam veterans have this disease yet do not know it. This race is also in honor of Michelle, who at age 47, was taken in the prime of her life following a heroic five-month battle with this disease, leaving behind a new husband and 2 kids to support those battling CC today and tomorrow. Many in this area will fall victim to “liver cancers” in 2020.
Your support will bring education and awareness to participants providing understanding and facilitating early detection which is of upmost importance. 100% of the net proceeds will help CCF fund research to find treatments which work and a cure within ten years. This is a family-friendly event hosted by Michelle’s family and friends to celebrate life, family, and wellness. In 2019, participation almost doubled from 2018 and the race was featured on KEYE TV in Austin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqhN4ntcCXY&feature=youtu.be
We really want to see you in person, but this year, we are going to err on the side of caution and host this as a virtual run. We are looking forward to seeing how many of you participate – and how many states we can have represented! You can run, walk, or row to show your support for this benefit race for CCF.
Michelle called us all "peeps". It's Texas! It's August!. We know it will be HOT! As Michelle said, "Train Hard or Go Home" so let's get 'er done!
$20 – Virtual Run, Walk, or Roll, and Finisher Medal, add on a shirt for $10 more
$15 – Sleepwalker – I just want a shirt!
NOTE: Shirts/Medals will be shipped/delivered/ready for porch pick up after the event is over and we have ordered and received the shirts and medals. We will send a message with instructions once packets are packed. This allows us to order exactly what we need and we won't spend money on extra shirts and medals that could go to the fundraising efforts!
