Dear Sun Run Participants, Vendors, Volunteers, and Spectators,
We are truly heartbroken to announce the cancellation of the Sun Run due to circumstances beyond our control. We were just informed (2/21 at 1 p.m.) by Hays CISD that all events from Friday night into Saturday morning must be canceled or postponed due to potential icy road conditions.
Unfortunately, postponing the race is not an option, as the key personnel required to produce the event are unavailable at a later date. However, we are transitioning the race to a virtual run so you can still participate in your own time and support Science Hall Elementary!
Since all necessary race items have already been purchased, we regret that we are unable to provide refunds. Instead, we kindly ask for your support by picking up your race packets and completing your run or walk at your convenience this upcoming week. This race has raised some valuable funds for Science Hall Elementary Physical Education and we can't wait to share with you how the funds will be used.
Packet Pickup Options:
In-Person Pickup:
- When: Tomorrow, 2/22, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Where: Science Hall Elementary Cafeteria (side facing Dacy Lane)
Alternate Pickup or Shipping:
- If you’re unable to pick up your packet in person, please email jennifer@fortheloveofgo.com
and indicate one of these two options: - Arrange porch pickup in Plum Creek this week
- Request shipping for a $5 donation
Important: Any packets not claimed by tomorrow, 2/22, at 3 p.m. will be considered donations. At that time, packets will be disassembled, and items will be donated or stored for next year.
While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we appreciate your understanding and support. We encourage you to run or walk for the Suns in the coming days and share your virtual race moments with us!
