Are you looking for a unique and fun challenge? Do you want to race but aren’t sure if you will be able to physically participate in an event or you prefer to run it virtually? There are many area events supporting non-profit organizations in the coming months and they need YOUR HELP! This race challenge series is designed to give you a little extra incentive to participate in those events. In addition to the normal swag and bragging rights you might get from an event, this series will also give you additional swag. This is an added reward program for races in which you participate. There is nothing for you to do to register for the challenge series – you simply signup for an Athlete Guild timed event listed below. Once you race, whether in-person with a chipped time, or virtually with your own validated time, you will be automatically entered in the series. Each race you participate in will add a point toward each milestone. The individual milestones are named after a particular battle in the Texas Revolution. Accomplish all milestones and you will achieve Texas Independence.
The rules are simple. Signup and finish a participating event. Your time and point will be included in the challenge series results. You can track your progress on the Athlete Guild Battle Cry Texas results page by finding your name and viewing your custom profile. Each milestone is achieved by completing 5 races. The first medal is the Battle Cry Texas award and signifies your dedication and support. The Battle Cry Texas medal is a custom medal which will have a hook at the bottom to attach additional medals. The milestone medals have a hook at the top and bottom which allow you to showcase your accomplishment.
Battle of Gonzales – This was the start of the Texas Revolution on October 2, 1835.
Battle of Goliad - Texans captured Presidio La Bahia, blocking the Mexican Army in Texas from accessing the primary Texas port of Copano.
Battle of the Alamo – Everyone knows this battle. While the Texans didn’t win, it is the most famous battle and one that inspired Texans to rise up.
Battle of San Jacinto – This is the battle that ended the war and declared Texas Independence.
